Bill Mitchells Sting Ray Racer is a true American classic. One of the surprising things about the car is its size. Its actually a rather small car, but its proportions make it look big. As slick as the car looks, the front end design is all wrong for a race car. They simply did not yet understand automotive aerodynamics in the late 50s in Detroit. At high speeds, the front end lifted up to the point where drivers were reporting that the front tires were losing contact with the ground! Unfortunately, the production 63 to 67 Corvettes had the same problem, but not to the same extent that the Sting Ray Racer had.
