1956 Sebring Road Racing Corvette - Print #C1-1

In 1956 Chevrolet fielded 4 265 c.i.d. Corvettes to race at Sebring. This famous old race horse, car No. 6, featured a cut-down windshield, night racing lights, air scoops for the rear brakes, Halabrand Racing Wheels, and side-exiting exhausts. This was very early on in Chevrolet's participation in racing. In retrospect, the preparation for the cars was last minute and dismal. Car No. 6 finished 15th overall and 6th in the C-Class behind 2 Ferraris and 3 D-Type Jaguars.

The Chevrolet advertising department grabbed a hold of the opportunity and proclaimed the Corvette Sebring tested and Sebring tough, as The Real McCoy. It was a humble beginning, but a beginning.
